Holiday Mason Jar Crafts Sewing Kit

I have always loved mason jars. I mean they are so pretty and I just love all the cool things you can make with them. Well I finally figured out a way to bring my love of mason jars into my sewing life. These pillowcase kits make the perfect mason jar Christmas gifts. Each mason jar diy includes everything the recipient needs to create their own pillowcase (without a sewing machine!) I just love mason jar gifts and this one is my new favorite, not that I am biased or anything. This mason jar craft is one of the most easy things to make this holiday season!

Holiday Mason Jar Crafts Sewing Kit

I just love blue mason jar crafts so I had to use a blue mason jar for these pillowcase kits. You can grab some HERE. I know I am enabling you, but I just don’t care. I LOVE these so much!

This mason jar sewing kit is meant to be given as a gift. You will put together all of the supplies needed to create a pillowcase (by hand) and put them into the mason jar. Then wrap it with a ribbon and print off a gift tag and gift the sewing kit. Don’t forget to throw in a gift card because once they are bitten with the sewing bug they are going to need to make a trip to the craft store, am I right?

This is great for craft enthusiasts of all ages. This is a great way to give people a little something crafty and allow them to create something for themselves. This would be a fun activity to send home with someone who is road tripping to your house. They could even throw it in their carry on for the airplane so they have something to do, just make sure you use tiny embroidery scissors or snips so they don’t get caught at security!

So you create the pincushion, wrap up the supplies, and then give the whole kit away as a gift.

Mason Jar DIY

The first step is to create the pin cushion on top of the mason jar. Cut a round of fabric that is about 1/2″ wider than the lid all the way around. It doesn’t have to be perfect, you will fix any irregularities when you glue the fabric down.

Hot glue the fabric round to the lid insert. Leave a section open.

Stuff the opening with filling. I like THIS one. Then glue the opening closed on the back of the lid.

The last step is to back the lid with a round of felt. This will hide the fabric edges and give it a nice clean finished look.

Now we are ready to stuff the jar.

Pillowcase Supplies:

1 Yard Fabric – You can use any fabric you want. This is a great place to customize each jar for the recipient. Grab the buffalo check from the video HERE.

Sewing Needles – Each jar needs 1 or 2 needles for hand sewing.

Thread – One small spool of thread is more than plenty for this project.

Seam Ripper – I mean, it is always a good idea to have a seam ripper lying around right?

Pillowcase Pattern – This super basic pattern is really easy to sew by hand with only three straight seams.

Measuring Tape – This will help them measure the cuff of the pillowcase and their seam allowance.

Snips or Scissors – I  like the snips because they aren’t as sharp as scissors. But a small pair of scissors would work just the same.

Mason Jar Christmas Crafts

There are so many mason jar Christmas ideas running around in my head. Here are a few more sewing kit options to create adorable mason jar crafts gifts this holiday season.

Felt Ornament Kit – This felt ornament would be great to sew up.

Stuffed Felt Toy Kit – How about this stuffed unicorn??

Headband Sewing Kit (this easy headband could be sewn by hand.)

English Paper Piecing Quilt Kit – Fill the jar with hexis and papers and a glue marker and everything you need for paper piecing.

If you are looking for mason jar crafts for kids I love the idea of creating lacing sets out of felt (or paper plates) and creating little sewing kits for them as well. I like THESE plastic needles for the youngest crowd. Then use a hole punch on any felt shape you desire. Create two of these felt shapes and then finish the kit with some embroidery floss or yarn.

DIY Mason Jar Gifts

Hand Lettering Kit – Insert some practice worksheets and brush pens.

Crochet Kit – Yarn, crochet hooks, and a hat pattern.

Embroidery or Cross Stitch Kit- Attach a small hoop to the top when you tie the ribbon around.

Coloring Pages Kit – Fun coloring pages and crayons.

Paint Kit – Stuff the kit with small paint bottles, brushes, and a teeny tiny canvas.

Vinyl Kit – Cut a cute file out of iron on vinyl and give them a zipper pouch or t-shirt to customize.

Watercolor Kit – Small watercolor paints, brushes, and paper.

I love your sewing kit ideas. I’m thinking a closet sachet or a pair of hand warmers kit would be fun too. I fill my hand warmers with flax seed which heats nicely and has a silky feel unlike rice. Thanks!!

I like your idea but I was thinking of other ideas to many to put on paper at this time. Still love your idea.

Great Ideas thank you for sharing. Would be great but not necessary if you had the pattern instructions listed with the jars too. I look forward to seeing more of your mason jar ideas.
