Eco Chic Bags Book – Sustainable Sewing Projects

I wrote a book, Eco Chic Bags! Reading that still doesn’t even seem real! Early last year a publisher reached out to me and asked me if I might be interested in writing a book. I jumped in with both feet and before I knew it I had created more than 40 projects for this book. The book focuses on sustainable projects and materials. Keep reading, let me take you through this journey!

Sustainable Materials

The environment is a huge issue for me. I am desperate for a change that will keep our world livable for my children.

That is why my book focuses heavily on eco-friendly projects. All of the materials used in the book are environmentally friendly.

The new fabric for the projects in the book was all provided by Spoonflower. Spoonflower was the perfect partner for this book because as they say “sustainability is at the heart of all that [they] do.”

Many of the projects were also made using recycled materials. I used some homeless clothing items that were too worn for the thrift store. I also include tons of great ideas for materials in your own home that you can recycle and repurpose.

Sustainable Projects

Many of the projects in the book are designed to help you reduce your waste. Here are just a few of the projects that help you reduce your footprint:

  • Flat Bottom Tote – perfect for replacing plastic bags at the grocery store!
  • Draft Stopper – a great way to reduce your energy use around the house by holding in the cool or heat.
  • Washable Duster – stop buying those plastic dusters with the disposable dusting sheets! This one can be made with things you already have on hand and washed and reused again and again.

More Fun Details

Spoonflower is also near and dear to my heart because their fabrics are designed by a huge collection of independent designers. I love supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs. See all of the fabrics I used in the book HERE.

Thermoweb was also instrumental in this book. They provided the cotton interfacing for many of the projects. Thermoweb is a company that is near and dear to my heart because they were the first company I worked with when I started blogging. They were willing to give me a shot when other companies turned their nose up!

Fun fact, I wrote this book while I had a broken foot. My sewing area is in the basement and so I had to have my husband, mom, and son bring down my scooter every time I wanted to work on the projects for this book. Then I would hop down the stairs! Phew, so much hard work went into the creation of the book!!! Want to learn a little more, check THIS out!

Where can I get the book?

You can find the book on Amazon HERE or Barnes and Noble HERE.

If you’re interested you might also be able to find it in your local sewing store. Give them a call and ask them if they have it, and if they don’t go ahead and ask them to get it 😉

If you do get the book I would LOVE for you to leave a review! Reviews are one of the big ways that Amazon knows whether or not to recommend the book to others!

Don’t forget that the best way to help a blogger is to help people see their content! You can easily help by pinning their post or sharing them to your social media! This blog helps me to support my kiddos and allows me to stay home with them and take care of them! You can learn more about me and my kids HERE.
