Can you make a Quilt with a Regular Sewing Machine?
This is a question I get all the time! You can most certainly make a quilt with a regular home sewing machine. In fact that is the only way I have ever made a quilt and I have made quite a few! There are challenges but it is totally doable. I make all of my quilts on a regular sewing machine (not a long arm.) Having a sewing machine cabinet can be helpful because it gives you a flat space to work and you don’t have to push your quilt up and over the hump of the machine when you are quilting. Check out my favorite sewing machine cabinets HERE.
Scrappy Rainbow Baby Quilt
This quilt is great because you can use scraps that you already have lying around. Or you can go get new fabric because that is fun too! This quilt comes together quickly and it has a printable template to help you keep everything organized and make it even easier. This one is nice for beginners and seasoned sewists alike.
Rainbow Doodle Mini Quilt
This mini quilt is so fun! I love rainbows so much and I love “doodling” with my sewing machine. Many people think you can’t make a quilt on your home sewing machine but that isn’t true. Especially when we are talking about mini quilts. Mini quilts are the perfect bite size quilt that is easy to make on your home machine but also fun to hang in your craft room. Or make several and use them in a gallery wall.
Row by Row Rainbow
This pattern is made with fun rainbow colors but it is also fun because of all the different shapes. Even with the different shapes this one is very repetitive which makes it great for beginners wanting to learn a few new skills.
Rainbow Swirl Mini Quilt
You know I love a mini quilt and I also love my half square triangles! They whip up so quickly. I couldn’t resist including this fun mini with an adorable rainbow swirl made from HST’s!
Gemstone Tumble
This quilt leaves me speechless! You don’t have to make it in rainbow but really why would you do anything but a rainbow! Just kidding it would be gorgeous in tons of different color schemes!
Rainbow Diamonds Baby Quilt
This is a really fun pattern! This would be a great one for busting those large scraps from your collection.
Matrix Quilt
This quilt kind of blows my mind. I am sure it is easier than it looks but I couldn’t even begin to wrap my mind around this one without a pattern! Regardless of my inability to process this one I love it! It is stunning and fun!
Optical Illusion Quilt
How cool is this one? The quilting on this one looks seriously time consuming but it turned out so beautiful that it seems totally worth it!
Staggered Quilt
How neat is this one? It is made with a jelly roll and you know how I love my precuts (if you don’t know what a precut is check out THIS post.) Plus this one is a steal, go check it out.
Spectrum
Isn’t this quilt amazing? I am really drawn to quilts that have a lot of white in them. The bright white really speaks to me. It feels so clean and makes the colors really pop!
Following
Aren’t these arrows so freaking cool? The arrows add a fun touch and they aren’t too difficult to make.
Rainbow Steps and Stairs
I love this quilt because it is opposite from the others on this list. The rainbow is the background and the shape is the negative space. This is a fun play on a traditional quilt pattern (and I think I may have mentioned that I love a good HST pattern!)
Rainbow Star Patchwork
I just love the bright colors in this quilt. This one is fun because the rainbow is repeated over and over on a small scale, compared to the larger rainbows in the other quilts on the list.
