Supplies:

Fabric – 10″x17″ (for a regular sized wine bottle.) Plus a circle (you will measure this below.)

Scrap Paper (I like to use junk mail, use it before you recycle it right?)

Wine bottle (to measure, and drink who are we kidding?!?!?)

Instructions:

Grab your wine bottle and trace a circle onto the paper you have chosen to use to create your template. Then with a ruler go around and mark 1/4″ inch every 1/4″ or so around the circle you just created. Then draw a line to match the marks you just made and cut that larger circle out. This is your template for the bottom of the bag.

From your template cut one circle and one piece measuring 10″x17″ That size is for a standard size wine bottle. If your bottle has unusual dimensions you will want to wrap the fabric around the bottle and mark where the two pieces meet at the widest point. Then cut 1/2″ larger to allow for seams.

Next press one of the short edges under 1/4″ and then under again 1/4″ and sew in place.

Now fold the piece in half long ways with the right sides of the fabric facing in. Sew down the length of the side.

The last step is to pin the circle onto the raw edges of the bottom and sew in place. If you need tips for this step see my slouchy toy sack tutorial.

Turn the piece out, stuff with a wine bottle, and tie off with a ribbon.

I told you it was quick and easy didn’t I?? Use a holiday themed fabric for something festive. Or use a neutral fabric so that your host(ess) can use the bag over and over throughout the year!
