Quick and Easy Magician’s Cape Tutorial

I am so excited to be part of the Summer Fun Series with Emily from Life Sew Savory again this year. I know we are SO busy in summer and there isn’t much time to sit down at the sewing machine. That is why I wanted to create something quick and easy that would also help with the issue of kids being bored in the summer! Here is a quick and easy magician’s cape tutorial!

Cut your pieces to the sizes listed above. Take the long strips and pin them in half long ways.

Now take your large piece and fold the top short edge under 1/4″. Sew in place using a zig zag stitch. I used a black thread so you could easily see the stitch, but I recommend using something that coordinates with your fabric so it will blend in.

I finished the top edge so that it would provide the softest edge possible for the little guy’s neck. Now attach the two strips to the top edge to create the ties for the cape. Attach the open raw edge to the edge of the cape to close the unfinished edge of the tie and attach it to the cape.

Perfecting their tricks should give you a few moments of freedom and sanity…hahaha yeah right good luck with that!
