Heat Transfer Vinyl Batman Shirt Tutorial

Do you have a Batman fan in the house? My youngest has been counting down the days until the Lego Batman movie comes out! I knew I had to make him something special for the big day! Here is a heat transfer vinyl batman shirt tutorial!

T-Shirt

Heat Transfer Vinyl

Batman File

Instructions:

Download the batman file above. To add a name you will want to click the button highlighted in the image below. I used the font “Impact.” Then flip the text by right clicking and hitting flip text horizontally. You want the image to be mirrored since you will cut on the back side of the heat transfer vinyl.

Cut the image on the heat transfer vinyl with your cutting machine. Then you will weed the image, which just means to remove the excess vinyl leaving the image that you want to transfer.

Once you have cut and weeded the image you are ready to iron it on. Save the letters that you weeded to customize a backpack or even another t-shirt. The plastic on the heat transfer vinyl is safe to iron on. I just use a paper towel or pressing cloth to protect the iron from melting the plastic. Use a ruler to measure the middle of the image and then find the middle of the shirt and line it up with the middle of the image. This will ensure that the image is centered and straight on the shirt.

This is really a super quick and easy project! The kids will love having their own customized t-shirt. Just in time for watching the new Lego Batman movie!
