Adorable Mermaid SVG File (Iron On Tips)

This month the Fresh Cuts Bundle is mermaid themed. A whole bundle of mermaid svgs? I am so flipping excited! I am a coffee fanatic so naturally my mermaid SVG file has a coffee cup included! I couldn’t think of a fun and clever name for the mermaid brew or I would have included that too (if you think of one share it with me in the comments below.) This bundle also includes a bunch more adorable mermaid themed cut files so be sure to check them all out!

I recommend you cut these files with your Cricut Maker. But the SVG files will work with any cutting machine that accepts an SVG.

Grab this mermaid svg file now!! Get it —–> HERE!

Create this sweet customized tote by using iron on and the mermaid svg file. Get the tote sewing tutorial HERE. I recommend using the Cricut EasyPress and the EasyPress Mat to add all of the iron on.

Tips for adding Iron On:

  • When working with several layers of vinyl start with the bottom layer and tack the iron on onto the fabric by pressing it with the EasyPress for 5-10 seconds. Then remove the plastic and add the next layer and tack again. Once all layers have been tacked use the EasyPress and pressing paper to press one final time to secure all of the layers.
  • If you are using various types of Iron On I recommend that you use the lowest heat setting recommendation but press the thicker pieces for longer. For example if you are using foil and glitter use the heat setting for foil but press the glitter for a longer time.
  • Check the iron on recommendations to see if you should use a hot peel or a cold peel. Cold Peel means that you peel the plastic once the iron on has completely cooled. Hot Peel means just the opposite. Peel when the plastic is hot.

* When layering with the foil it will lose some of its shine when you press repeatedly. If you can put the foil layer on last and only press once that is ideal. You can see the foil in the picture above has lost some of its vibrance.

Still have questions? Go ahead and share them with me in the comments below. I will be working with this bundle for a few more projects so be sure and check back to see what else you can do with this awesome svg mermaid.
