Instructions:

*Print out the coloring page you plan to use.

*Use your bright pad or tape the image and your fabric to a window.

*Trace the image onto the paper using a Sharpie. Depending on your fabric you may have a tiny bit of bleeding from the Sharpie. On the cotton I used it was minimal.

*Heat up your laminator so it is nice and hot!!

*Trace the parts of the image that you want to foil onto the hot melt adhesive.

*Cut out the adhesive in the shape you traced.

*Place the hot melt onto the fabric and sandwich it between two pieces of card stock.

*Run this through the laminator two or three times.

*Remove the paper from the adhesive.

*Cut foil to fit over the adhesive.

*Sandwich this between two pieces of card stock.

*Run through the laminator three to four times.

*Peel the foil sheet off.

Foiling FAQs:

Can I use an iron to set the foil?

Yes you can but I find that the heat from the laminator works WAY better!! If I use the iron I get frustrated and end up disliking the finished product. I want you to love your finished piece so PLEASE use a laminator. You can get one for super cheap and I promise you will LOVE it!

How many times should I put the piece through the laminator?

One time through the laminator is not enough, in the video below I actually went through three times but nobody wants to watch that so I sped it up! Keep the two pieces of protective card stock on the piece and don’t move anything, then run it through the laminator 3-5 times. The foil LOVES heat when it still has the protective sheet over it.

Can I use heat on foil AFTER I have removed the protective sheeting?

NO. NO. NO. NO!!!! Don’t iron the foil after you have peeled off the plastic sheeting. It will ruin it and make it look all wonky. You can run it through the laminator or under the iron with a protective layer as many times as you want but the second you peel the top portion of the foil sheet off STOP with the heat!
