Awesome Ocean Quilt Along – Building the Quilt Blocks

This month I am hosting a quilt along on my Facebook page. We are going through an entire quilt from start to finish together live. Check out the first post where you can see the supplies including pattern and a fabric bundle.

Awesome Ocean Quilt Along – Building the Quilt Blocks

This week on the live videos we put together 9 different blocks. We are making the small version of the Awesome Ocean quilt pattern so each block will need to be made twice for the finished quilt.

Octavian and Kelp Block

This video will walk you through the first two blocks in the Awesome Ocean pattern. There are also tips for cutting your fabric into the pieces needed for each block.

Puffy and Angelica

Walk through the next two blocks of the pattern. These two are really straight forward and not super difficult.

Chuckles and Preppy

This video shows the making of the chuckles and preppy block.

Tony the Turtle and Mr. Manatee

These two blocks are a bit more complicated. This will walk you through the turtle and manatee block. The manatee block has a small error (in the video) so be sure to follow the pattern closely in the face portion.

Salty the Seahorse

The final block in the pattern is the seahorse. This one is a bit more difficult so be sure to take your time and sew carefully. This video also covers my tips for squaring your blocks and prepping them for assembly.

Once you have two of each block you will be ready to move on to the next step which is squaring the blocks and then assembling the quilt top.

Make sure and follow me on Facebook so you can catch the rest of the quilt along live!
