No Sew Silhouette Wall Art – Sherlock Holmes

I am so freaking excited for the new Sherlock Holmes episodes. I am a massive Cumberbatch fan and I just adore the show. When some of my bloggy friends decided that we should all create a fun project/recipe for the premiere I was totally in! Scroll to the bottom to see their ideas. Here is the no sew silhouette wall art – Sherlock Holmes version! Head to the middle of the post for a full video tutorial (I am such a visual learner so I think the video will help anyone who is visual!)

Instructions:

There are lots of little steps for this project but I promise it is not hard, read the instructions and watch the video for the full effect!!

The first step is to search for a Sherlock silhouette that you like. I couldn’t find one that I loved that was free or to purchase so I did the old google search, which is why I don’t have one to share with you. Do as I did and google search “Sherlock Holmes silhouette.”

Once you find the silhouette that you like (I did both Holmes and Watson) print it out on the EZ Print Lite. Then cut the image out (most of the way) and then iron it onto a piece of black fabric. Remember the image will be mirrored so take that into account before you print. Once you have trimmed the image to its final shape you will move on to the next step.

Next grab your canvas and fabric. Cut the fabric to be about 3 inches wider than the canvas around all four sides. Do this for all three fabrics.

Cut the wording out using your Silhouette and the cut file. This needs to be mirrored so that it is oriented the correct way (I have already done this with the file I provided but if you create your own be sure to mirror it.)

Cut a piece of heat n bond to the same size as a piece of white fabric. Iron your wording onto a piece of white fabric (this makes the writing easier to read) and onto the heat n bond at the same time. Then trim the white piece into the desired shape.

Iron the two silhouettes and the wording onto the three separate pieces of fabric. The last step is to use your fabric fuse glue and attach the fabric to the separate canvas’. You can see exactly how I did this in the video below.

That is it! Hang and enjoy.
