For this post you will need a Cricut Maker and Cricut Design Space.
Supplies:
Simplicity Boxers Pattern in Design Space
Creative Rockstar Fabric Bundle and Apricot and Persimmon Fabric Bundle
Serger (optional)
Assembly Tips:
- Gather all of your supplies. If you are using the Cricut fabric bundles listed above you will need two pieces of fabric, so get two bundles or find two coordinating pieces (as I have done.)
- The fabric marker will cut mark all of the pieces for you so be sure to place your fabric face down on the mat.
- Grab the PDF instructions that are included with the pattern. When you click on the pattern, they are on the very bottom of the screen (scroll all the way down.) These are super helpful and will give you tons of tips for assembling the boxers.
- You don’t have to have a serger, I made these on my regular machine. If you are using a regular machine you may want to add a zig zag stitch along the raw edges on the inside of the shorts to keep the fabric from fraying.
- You can adapt the pattern (after it has been cut.) I chose to keep the front placket flat and not add a snap. My son is nowhere near sophisticated enough to understand how to use that portion anyway!
- Make them into shorts and not boxers by adapting the pattern, don’t sew the curved portion on the front, instead sew a straight seam to make them look less like boxers and more like shorts.
- Play around with different fabrics to give them a different look. Have fun with it!
