Quick and Easy Ikea Curtain Hack
When we recently moved into our new house I knew that I wanted to make my craft room fantastic! I wanted it to be bright and fun, but my budget for this fantastic craft room is minimal! Ikea is pretty much the most fantastic place to go on a budget (this is not a sponsored post, I just love Ikea!) I found these fun curtains and knew I could make them into something amazing! Here is a quick and easy Ikea curtain hack.
Quick and Easy Ikea Curtain Hack
Supplies:
Needle
Thread
Instructions:
This project is ridiculously easy. Grab a needle and coordinating thread and we will get to work.
I tried several different methods and eventually got into a groove. Here is the method that I found that worked best.
Hang the curtains. This makes it easier to see where the pom’s will look the best!
Hold a pom pom to the front of the curtain. Using the needle start on the back of the curtain. Hold the tail of the thread and pull the needle through the pom. There is a place in the middle of the pom where everything is held together. This is the area you want to focus on when you sew the pom on. Pull the needle through under this “nerve center” and then put the needle through over the “nerve center.”
Repeat this step one more time. Basically you are encircling the center of the pom twice. I did it once for a bunch and then they started falling off! The one extra time around did the trick and help the pom in place.
Now double knot the thread. I tied it a third time for good measure.
Add the pom poms in a random pattern throughout the curtains. Usually I do things randomly because I am lazy. For these I tried doing them in several even rows with another set of rows offset and it just looked wonky. The random placement looks 10x better!!
I hung an extra set of these same curtains in the middle without poms. I love the soft ethereal look these curtains give the room. They soften the light, which is perfect for taking blog photos! They are just so pretty and I love them so much! Plus they cost me less than 25$ for all of it!!
I am just loving how my craft room is coming together!!
