How to Make a Square Pillow Cover
With the holiday season right around the corner you are probably going to be decorating over and over and over! Halloween, and then Thanksgiving, and then Christmas. One thing that you can easily do to add some fun decoration is to change out your pillow covers. You are going to be shocked how easy it is to make pillow covers. It takes me 5, yup 5, minutes to make one pillow cover! Here is how you make a square pillow cover.
This is just one of my 50+ easiest sewing tutorials. Check out the rest HERE.

Facebook Live Video Supplies:
Fabric Markers – Crayola or Marvy
Supplies:
15″ pillow form (I like these down ones they look really nice!) You could also make your own with my TUTORIAL.
2 Fat Quarters (they can be the same fabric of contrasting.)
From one FQ cut one 15.5″ square. From the other you need two 15.5″x10″ strips.
Instructions:
Take your 15″x10″ strips. Press the top edge of one under 1/4″. Then fold it under 1/4″ again and press. For your second back piece press the bottom edge of the other under 1/4″ and then fold under another 1/4″ and press again.
Use a zig zag stitch to sew these two seams in place.
Now line up the first of the strips face down on the 15″ square. The strip that you put down first is the one that will be the top of the back of the pillow. In other words this one will overlap the other strip so be sure that you place the one you want to be on top down first.
Then place the other strip face down on top of the remaining portion of the 15″ square. Your two strips should overlap by several inches. Pin these in place all the way around.
Now go ahead and sew around all four sides. You don’t need to leave an opening because you already have a place to turn out the pillow. Trim the corners, this will make the corner of the finished piece crisper.
Turn the pillow out. I like to press the seam all the way around, but it is probably an unnecessary step because you are going to stuff it with a pillow that will push the seams out.
This is what the back will look like.
Here is the front.
See took almost no time right?? These would make a great gift because you can make a lot in relatively little time! Stock up on fat quarters when they go on sale and then go to town!!! These would also be great for kids who are learning to sew. So so easy!

Super beginner question here! I goofed and purchased 16″ pillow form. Should I just add an inch to all of your fabric dimensions? Thank you!! (PS – thankfully I purchased fat quarters so I should be good on my other supplies)

Yup! Add 1″ everywhere! So 16.5″ and 11″.
