Ice Cream Cone Paper Piecing Tutorial
Supplies:
Ice Cream Paper Piecing Pattern
Paper to print the template
Scraps of fabrics in four different colours
Sewing machine
Basic sewing supplies
Instructions:
I couldn’t resist using my bright raspberry and pink fabrics to create this soft serve swirl – raspberry ripple flavor – yum! Print the pattern listed above off and follow the tutorial below to create this scrummy summer foundation pieced block.
To start cut out all the shapes, along the seam allowance line. Choose your fabrics, as this is made up of small pieces of fabrics, it’s a great way to use up all your scraps. I then color coordinated all the pieces.
Begin with the cone and add your fabrics in number order.
Next assemble row B, C, and D in the same manner. Then trim each block and press.
Now you are ready to begin the soft serve swirl portion…
Continue piecing the sections in the same manner. Adding the number 1 piece of fabric and attaching the fabric in number order. (Make sure and see the first paper piecing post in the series for extremely detailed instructions.)
Take each piece in alphabetical order and with right sides together sew along the seam allowance to join the block together.
A delicious raspberry ripple soft serve swirl, what flavor will you create?
