How to Customize Your Sewing with HTV
HTV is the short way to write Heat Transfer Vinyl. This sounds intimidating and it kind of is if you are just starting out. Please don’t be intimidated. Heat transfer vinyl is actually super easy to work with! It is the perfect way to add some fun customization to your sewing projects and really make them personal.
You can buy heat transfer vinyl in sheets or in rolls. I like to get my vinyl from Expressions Vinyl because they have so many awesome options and it is a much better price than if you go to the craft store!!
You are also going to need a cutting machine. I have the Silhouette and it works great for cutting vinyl. I have friends who use and love the Cricut though so it is definitely up to you which machine to use.
For this tutorial I am using the zipper pouches from these two posts. How to Sew an Easy Zipper Pouch and How to Sew a Lined Zipper Pouch. You could use this technique on just about any fabric project that you have including clothing like a baby onesie or a t-shirt or jacket.
I am super lucky to have some seriously amazing friends who are super talented! But you are lucky too because they totally share their talent. You can get tons of awesome free cut files on Kimber Dawn Co and Dawn Nicole Designs.
You can find the cut file that you love and then check out the full tutorial for using and layering heat transfer vinyl over on Kimber Dawn Co. —->HERE!
