How to Sew an Easy Dog Bone
My dog was my first baby! We have since added a couple of actual babies to the mix but he will always hold a special place in my heart! Nothing says “I love you” to your pup more than something made with love and care. I wanted to do something special for my baby on his 12th birthday so I put together a birthday bag filled with all of his favorite things! I went to Meijer and grabbed his favorite flavors of Milo’s Kitchen home-style dog treats and then made him a special toy as a surprise! Here is how to sew an easy dog bone.

I do my best to feed my kids all natural food and my pup is no different! He and I both love these Milo’s Kitchen home-style dog treats because they are made with no artificial colors or ingredients right here in the U.S. That is why I made sure to include his favorite flavors of Milo’s Kitchen home-style dog treats in his doggy birthday bag!
I made the actual bag itself on a Facebook live video which you can find HERE.
The finishing touch to his doggy bag was a bone. This dog is obsessed with having a stuffed bone. He carries it around everywhere he goes. He places it on his paws to use as a pillow for his naps. He grabs it and pushes it towards you when he is ready to head to bed for the night. His bones get so dirty and disgusting that I have to replace them every year or so! I finally decided it was time to just make my own! I can’t believe how easy it actually was!
Doggy Bone Supplies: (Scroll down to see the supplies used for the doggy bag.)
PDF Bone – This is to cut by hand if you don’t have a cutting machine.
SVG Bone – This is to use with your cutting machine (I used my Cricut Maker.)
Fat Quarter of Fabric – I grabbed this dog one from Sew Stitching Happy on Etsy.
Polyfil – To stuff the bone.
Instructions:
Cut the file using your cutting machine or scissors. If you are cutting by hand be sure to cut the image on a folded over piece of the fabric so that you get two sides to the bone.
Place the bones right sides together. Sew around both ends and one side. Leave one side open to turn the bone out and stuff. Notch the four round edges to ensure that the bone has a nice finished look.
Turn the bone out. Stuff with the filling. Press the open edges under 1/4″.
Finish the bone by hand with a ladder stitch or by top-stitching the opening closed with your sewing machine.
That is it! I told you it comes together super quick!!

This stuffed dog bone is not designed for dogs who destroy their toys. My dog is very gentle on his toys and has never ripped one. Proceed with caution if your dog is a big chewer!
