Ninja Turtle Shell Pouch
I cannot believe there is a new Ninja Turtle movie! I remember my brother watching the movies like crazy when we were kids! The new movie is definitely not something I am going to take my young boys to but that doesn’t stop them from loving the idea! I decided since they won’t be seeing the movie anytime soon they needed a ninja turtle shell pouch to hold their stuff!
This is just one of my 50+ easiest sewing tutorials. Check out the rest HERE.
Ninja Turtle Shell Pouch
This project came together really quickly! You can print out the template, but really it is just an oval cut in half. You will also need a 9″ zipper and two small scraps of your main fabric to put on the ends of the zipper. For the back side you will use a piece of fleece, or just green fabric, and a square of black felt.
Grab the template, Ninja Turtle Shell Template, you can place it on the edge of the fabric. But don’t put it on a fold like you would with most patterns because you want to have two separate pieces.
Sew the two scrap pieces onto either end of the zipper (as shown below.) Once you have cut the oval pieces out press the edge on the straight side under by 1/4″.
Then you are ready to attach the zipper to both sides.
Trim the excess off where the zipper connects and then trace the entire piece onto your green fabric. Cut the green shell out.
For the black pieces I just free handed a bunch of random shapes and fit them together to resemble a shell. Stitch them all in place.
Next sew 1/4″ around the whole oval (make sure and undo the zipper so you can easily turn it out once you have sewn all the way around.
Top-stitch as close to the edge as you can get to set the seam and keep it lying nice and flat.
That is it! You are finished! The ninja turtle shell pouch is ready for storing small things!Do your kids love ninja turtles?
