Milk and Cookies Appliqué Reusable Snack Bag
Milk and Cookies Appliqué Reusable Snack Bag – “This post was sponsored by a2 Milk® as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. I received complimentary products to facilitate my review.”
Milk and cookies are such a pivotal memory for a kiddo to have! I remember loving to dunk a cookie in milk as a kiddo! When my youngest was born and ready we tried to introduce milk and it was HORRIBLE. I won’t give you the details but each time we have tried to reintroduce milk we have had the same results. So eventually I just stopped trying! That was until I found this a2 Milk® which is pure farm fresh milk. My little guy has been able to enjoy this milk with no tummy troubles! So that means he can now enjoy milk and cookies! That is why it was a natural fit for me to become an ambassador for the a2 Milk Company ™. Scroll down for the tutorial for making a reusable snack bag which also doubles as a great picnic placemat!
Often times a ‘Post-Dairy Digestive Discomfort’ can be caused by the A1 protein that is found in conventional & organic milks in the U.S. a2 Milk® uses heirloom cows that produce milk that is free from the A1 protein, and thus the milk is ‘the way mother nature intended.’ This a2 Milk® is a pure replacement for chemically processed alternatives and nut or bean based beverages. Now that my little guy can enjoy milk and cookies I thought it was only necessary that he have his own snack bags for cookies to go along with his milk.
For one snack bag you will need a fat quarter of cotton (from one fat quarter you will be able to make several bags.) I used this cute Cookies and Milk Creamy fabric from Spoonflower. I also used Rip Stop Nylon, you will need a small piece but it was more economical for me to get a full yard. You will also need some velcro. I like to sew mine in, especially since my little one will be using it and he is rough on EVERYTHING!
First cut a piece of the cotton and a piece of the nylon to a 12″ square.
To make the applique you will want to download and print this milk and cookie template.
Cut each piece out. You can see that I created an extra piece for the label and then again for the wording (you will see I chose not to do the wording in felt but the template is there if you decide to use it.)
I like to use a sharp blade to cut the felt when it is very detail specific. You could also use some quilting scissors. Once you have cut it out go ahead and top-stitch it in place on the front of the cookie fabric. Sew it directly in the middle of the square.
I literally NEVER get a needle out and sew anything by hand. But I did for this! I just used some black thread and sewed a few “chocolate chips” into the cookie.
Then I put the words on the milk bottle with the same black thread. I think it turned out seriously adorable!
Once you have sewn on the appliqué we are ready to put the piece together. Place the cotton and nylon right sides together and sew around 3 and 3/4 of the square. Then trim the corners and turn the piece out. Then top-stitch around the entire edge to close the open edge and keep the nylon from sliding around. Then we are ready to add some velcro. Use the image below as a guideline for where you will be placing the velcro. There are three pieces of velcro on both the front and the back.
It can be a little origami like so here is a quick run through of how to fold it.
The fun thing about this little snack bag is you can also use it as a placemat since it opens all the way up! Little man loved sitting outside with his milk and cookies. He kept saying “yum” and “mmm!” The a2 Milk® was definitely a hit, find the store near you with a2 Milk®!!
Happy sewing and happy tummy!

Your snack bag is adorable, almost as cute as your little guy. 🙂 The milk sounds very interesting. I’m glad your son is now able to enjoy milk.
