DIY Baby Mobile Sewing Tutorial
I am so excited to be helping Persia Lou launch her new Craftsy class for using vinyl (Check it out HERE!) I love playing with vinyl and I have had my eye on this adorable hand lettered “you are so loved” cut file for quite a while. I decided it was time to put it to use and make something really special. I put baby in the title but I really think this mobile would be cute in any little girls room! Here is a DIY baby mobile sewing tutorial.

Supplies:
Heat transfer vinyl – I used this Gold Glitter from Expressions Vinyl
Fluorescent vinyl (does not need to be heat transfer) – I used this Fluorescent Raspberry from Expressions Vinyl
You are So Loved Cut File <—– Get it on Kimber Dawn Co.
Instructions:
Using your Silhouette machine cut out the cloud file and the you are so loved file.
Using the cloud file as your guide grab two pieces of white fabric and trace a cloud onto each. Make sure to mirror one of the clouds. Then iron the saying onto one of the clouds.
Using a contrasting thread sew around the majority of the clouds. Then stuff the pillow with stuffing. You can leave the cloud on the sewing machine as you stuff to save thread and keep it from looking uneven when you close up the hole.
Then sew up the opening. Just a note, this method will allow the edges of the fabric to fray. I like that in this case. You could sew it closed hiding the edges if that is your personal preference. Add two ribbons to the top of the cloud. These are going to attach to the embroidery hoop.
Next we are going to grab the iron on vinyl. Cut the vinyl into strips that are slightly bigger than the gold and pink clouds.
Place one cloud face down on one piece of vinyl. Then add a length of ribbon, a second cloud face up and a second piece of vinyl over the top.
Follow the instructions to iron the two pieces of vinyl together. Be sure to iron each side. Using the contrasting thread sew around the cloud (not on top of the colored vinyl just over the clear vinyl.)
Repeat these steps with as many clouds as you want on your mobile. Then tie the loose end of each ribbon around the inside piece of the embroidery hoop. The last step is to wrap ribbon around the entire embroidery hoop to give it a finished look.
That is it. You are finished! I told you it was quick and fun!
P.S. Don’t ever let your little one’s forget that they are so loved!! You could make this for an older kiddo. Or make it using blue or green for a baby boy’s room! The possibilities are endless! Enjoy your DIY baby mobile sewing tutorial!
